Description
I was a full time artist living in Stellenbosch. After getting married & moving to the Karoo, we found out that we were expecting twin girls. After having settled in back home with the newborn girls, it didn’t take long for me to start missing my paints terribly. Any new mom will attest to how tough it is to deal with all of the changes you go through as a woman over a period of time as you figure out what it means (and looks like) to be a mother. I picked up my brushes & propped my girls up onto the table in high seats so that they could be part of the process. It was autumn, & the world outside their room window was gilded over. I decided to paint an animal alphabet for the girls. Something to reflect the season I was finding myself in, growing & cramping as much as they were. An animal alphabet, so that they have something educational for their room & I could stretch my artist legs again. I kept them small, so that I could feel like I accomplished something at the end of the day’s interrupted painting. Now you can enjoy them for your little ones too.
