It’s funny, how life works.
Neither of us expected it. Neither of us believed in love at first sight. The can’t-eat-can’t-sleep kind. But it’s real, it hits hard. It’s our story.
I came back from Europe, having exhibited my art there in what was probably the highlight of my professional career as an independent artist. I came back to my word, that I gave to go help my best friend on their farm with a film festival as a rider/ model, as an extra hand wherever they would need me in between.
And in no way curated or scripted, one finds him, one stands next to her. Like a perfect sunset on a windless evening, a day no more special than the previous, you meet him, you greet her. And that’s it.
Like a perfectly timed harmony made from two strangers passing a whistle, our hearts began it’s weave into a single sound.
We were on horseback. We were out in the mountains. We were in love, immediately. Fully.
He came with leather tack he had made. Not the kind where the chap experiments in his free time. The kind that was made by a man who’s desire is to master a craft, to be the best at what he does for no other reason than a spirit of excellence. We all used his bridles, rode on his saddle blankets. We all needed his help tacking up. I recall snapping one of his reins with my horse, and saying I’ll repay him his damages. He in turn invited me to rather come look at what he does with the leather, where he works, how he works. You see, I have a love for leather too & carrying my clothing, was a leather travel bag I had made with my hands. We spoke of leather, we spoke of the Lord. We knew we found the fit. We got married, we started a family, we started a leather business. We became Faber.
It’s funny, how life works. To come a way to be here where we are, making leather tack, leather saddles, leather products as a couple. A collective dream, a growing team, an ever-reach for excellence.
This is a tale that started with two, about a love and a love for leather. We so look forward to sharing our stories with you. Stories of how we make your pieces, how we grow in new skills, how we grow as a team. We so look forward to sharing all the varied lifestyle products that are yet to grow out of us.
